Sound_00 + Lefterna – Collab 14 AO№14

For part 14 of their extensive collaborative series Toni Dimitrov and Boban Ristevski recorded 2 granular drone pieces (each of about 12 minutes) that – while strongly connected by a similar base – explore different amalgamations of processed field recordings and reverberating noises. Named among their artistic influences: the works of Christian Fennesz and Lawrence English.

Everything mastered by Mark Kuykendall.

“This is music that one should undergo and feel, rather than rationalize about. Like many of the other isolationist musicians it seems less about composing and more about letting sounds wander freely inside a bunch of sound effects but it becomes a very nice work indeed.”Frans de Waard about “Elements: Collabs 2” which includes track 14-2 in a differentely mastered version.

The album is presented on a black C-26 Ferric pro-dubbed tape (produced by Tapedub, Berlin) that comes in two editions (edition A of 7 copies with a black on white tape label, and edition B of 17 copies with an inversed label – see photos for reference).

Contained in a black hand-assembled O-card with typewritten bicolored label (with artists name, title, numbering and Bandcamp code).

3 inserts: 2 matte DIN A6 prints (on 350 gqm premium paper) in protective sleeves showing 4 landscape photos by Toni Dimitrov. And a numbered DIN A3 fold-out poster (Munken Pure Creme 90 g/m²) – cataloging all collab releases to date (1–31).

Pricing

I’m aware that the pricing may seem unusually high this time, though it stems from the rather limited nature (were only 17 of the 24 copies are actually for sale) against the background of rather high expenses – production- and material-wise (mastering, tape production, photo prints, rubber-stamp production, envelopes, protective sleeves, etc.). Makes it all-in-all the most expensive release from this series – though it may give comfort that at least half of the Collab EPs are freely downloadable. :)
